Effort is rarely the problem. Where it goes usually is.
I wasn't qualified for most of the jobs I've had. Six roles at one church, a photography business with my wife, and a video agency with a friend. Turns out that's a decent way to discover what actually works.
What I've learned
The hire came last
I have told this story with the hire at the front of it. The hire was the last thing that happened, and the order is the only part worth keeping.
- What I haven't been able to kill
I put elimination at the front of a framework. I have never actually eliminated anything, and here is the one thing I have genuinely tried to kill.
- No one had done the job before
Entering a discipline cold twice, and the discovery that the thing which transfers is never the domain knowledge.

Constraint
I had years of notes on my reMarkable that I was never going back to read.
Decision
Let Claude read and write my handwritten reMarkable notes, so years of pages can finally talk to each other.
Future
Next I want it to work without being asked, so writing a new page surfaces the two old notes it connects to on its own.
